Things change, Kündün...
It was really sweet to watch all the happy faces in the airport last night when my flight landed. It seems like there's a lot of joy about Obama's landslide victory in this election. I'm certainly very happy about it. It was also kind of cool to hear Robot George telling us that Obama's election means we have formed a more perfect union.
Of course, as Senator Obama reminded us very nicely in his victory speech last night, this is the start of a process, not the end. Obama is a centrist. He'll probably (I hope!) be the first competent president we've had in office in recent memory, and that's a good thing, but he's not going to change the world on his own. He may do a lot of good, but if we really want to change the world, the responsibility still rests squarely on our shoulders, not on his.
Still, it's a happy, happy day.
